St Mary's College is a School Games Organiser hub site. It plays a lead role in developing physical education and school sport locally, regionally and nationally working with partners such as Hull Active Schools, Active Humber and the Humber School Games at a county level and the Youth Sport Trust at a national level.

Opportunity

St Mary's College aims to offer outstanding opportunities for its students through the delivery of a broad and balanced Physical Education curriculum delivered by an OFSTED 'outstanding' Physical Education department. Students are offered a range of competitive school sport opportunities combined with a range of healthy lifestyle activities delivered by school staff, external providers and independent clubs. This is with a view to increasing the range of experiences that students have, enabling them to make informed choices for the adoption of healthy and active lifestyles in adult life. They can be the catalyst for improved academic performance, a lifetime interest or in some cases professional fulfilment in competitive sport. St Mary's College aims to provide a range of opportunities so that students can identify any sporting talents that they have (which are not yet discovered) through the extensive range of activities on offer. Students who wish to pursue their sporting talents to the highest level possible will be supported and nurtured through their journey physically, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally.

Community

In addition, building upon the excellent base of community clubs which use the current facilities, St Mary's College is a "hub" for high quality local amateur, semi-professional and professional sports clubs. As a Youth Sports Trust, Leadership, Coaching and Volunteering school, St Mary's College plays an important role in developing volunteering within the local community. Our designation as a Youth Sport Trust/Football Association Girls Football Hub will allow us to develop coaching and officiating further.

Partnerships

St Mary’s College has made strategic partnerships to provide our students with an ever increasing outstanding offer. We have had a strategic partnership with the Tigers Trust for a number of years. This partnership has been enhanced and we now have a full time Tigers Trust officer on site as St Mary’s College has been designated as one of the First Community Hub Schools. In addition, we have a partnership with Hull FC and have a Director of Rugby on site for three days per week to develop rugby within the male and female curricular and extra-curricular programme.

Working with other partners such as the NHS, the local community through its access to facilities. This will provide a major contribution to the development of sport in Hull but also provide important resources for St Mary's College to sustain and maintain the outstanding facilities which its students and community users enjoy.
