Annual Shoe Box Appeal 2018

12th September 2018

It is that time of year again when SMC begins its annual shoe box appeal to help children across the world receive a gift this Christmas.

This year our Duke of Edinburgh group are putting the boxes together as part of their Bronze and Silver award. We are asking for donations across the year groups so that we can put as many boxes together as possible.

Each year group have been given a group of items to collect and any donations of these items that you can spare will be amazing:

Year 8 Small toys – bouncy balls/skipping rope/playing cards/ sealed happy meal toys
Year 9 Personal items - Hat, cap, gloves or scarf, sunglasses, hair accessories, jewellery set, stickers, wrapped sweets (best-before-date must be at least March of the following year)
Year 10 Stationery – pencils/rubbers/wax crayons/small pads or colouring books/pens/felt tips
Year 11 Toiletries – soap/flannel/comb/brush/tooth brush/tooth paste – PLEASE NOTE NO LIQUIDS SUCH AS SHOWER GEL CAN BE ACCEPTED DUE TO CUSTOMS RESTRICTIONS.

If your family wish to make up a shoe box of your own, we will have the forms in your child’s Year Office to assist you with what can be put into the shoe boxes. These can be dropped into reception at school any week day before the 17th November.

If you also have spare empty shoe boxes at home, these would be greatly accepted.

YEAR 7 students – This year, we are asking Y7 students to put shoe boxes together as part of a tutor group activity. Your child will be signing up for an item to put into their tutor group’s shoe box and this will be written into their planner. We are hoping to put together several shoe boxes for each tutor group.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR GENEROSITY FOR SUCH A SPECIAL CHARITABLE CAUSE
