A little piece of history

In December 2006 Nora Hanratty of Galway, Ireland set herself on a quest to write a little on the life of her late aunt, Miss Ellen Duffy, who taught French from c.1934-1952 at St Mary's.
On a visit to Hull she met a number of 'Old Girls' at Endsleigh. The group shared anecdotes with Nora or got in direct contact with her with their recollections of her aunt.
Nora has requested that Miss Duffy’s story reach as many of her ex students as possible and as such the fruits of her research and writing can be found below for you to enjoy
