Course leader: Mrs M Keogh

Aims of the course:

This is a one year full-time course aimed to develop student’s competence and confidence in the English language. It will focus on developing the four skills of:

  • Reading 
  • Writing
  • Speaking 
  • Listening 

These skills are essential if to enable students to progress in an English speaking country and to gain access to the next level in their chosen educational pathway. In order to enhance your skills for further progression you will also study for the Key Skills Numeracy and Literacy exams appropriate to your level of competence.


What are lessons like?

The material for the lessons is sourced from everyday life. Lessons are interactive and you will have access to ICT in most of the lessons.


Examinations

On entry student will be tested in order to establish their starting point and level.

Depending on progress and competence, students will also be entered for:

  • The iGCSE in ESL [English as a Second language} 
  • Functional Skills [Literacy] 
  • Functional Skills [Numeracy]
