Miss A Ramsden: Head of Transition
Welcome everyone, my name is Miss Ramsden and it is my responsibility to make sure students make the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 successfully. It is a genuine privilege to undertake this role each year.
We have to do things a bit differently this year so teachers from every department have shared information about their subject area in this web page. We’ve also included messages from current Year 7 students, some frequently asked questions and guidance on our admissions procedures.
Making the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 is a really big step and not something we underestimate at St Mary’s College so it’s imperative we support our new students fully to ensure they settle in quickly and can all make outstanding progress. We liaise extensively with Primary colleagues and families throughout the transition process to ensure we have an in-depth understanding of every child joining us and can therefore support all of our new starters appropriately. Our new students also complete a week of Transition in the summer term of Year 6 to navigate the school, get to know their tutor, experience lessons and make new friends in preparation for returning as Year 7 in September.
St Mary’s College is an outstanding school with superb results and excellent Pastoral care and I am lucky to work here in such a special role with such inspirational young people. I hope this site will help you to gain an understanding of what we have to offer at St Mary’s College; please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any queries or require any more information.
Good luck with your very important decisions and thank you for considering St Mary’s College.
