The medical team at SMC approach health holistically, supporting the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of the students. We take a positive and pro-active approach to support students to attend school regardless of medical condition or injury. We understand the close link between a healthy, happy student and progressive learning.

We have two health care assistants as part of the medical team. Mrs Ann Brown has worked in various roles at SMC for a number of years and has also worked in hospital environments for the past 12 years. Ann enjoys all aspects of the role, especially the clinical side such as dressing wounds, cuts and injuries. Ms Kay Walton joined SMC in 2011 and has worked in both Primary and Secondary Care environments. Kay also enjoys the variety her role brings especially supporting students’ health and well-being.

As a team we aim to ensure our students feel safe, supported and happy regardless of medical need. We deliver first aid support, medical plan care, administration of medications and sign posting services as part of our health care roles in the school. We also take guidance from health care professionals to ensure our care is always to the best possible standard.
